CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS

We offer a variety of corrective chiropractic adjustment techniques suitable for any case that comes our way. Dr Daniel is highly trained to handle acute pain and injury to wellness and pediatric care. Dr. Daniel has adjusted infants from birth to his oldest patient of 102 years.

There Are Different Types of Chiropractic Care

Every single one of our patients has come to realize that the care we deliver in our office is UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT on every level compared to most Chiropractic and medical offices.  I am always the first to say that we are not better than other offices, we’re just different when it comes to approach, results and most importantly relationships.

Simply put, we are not here to just crack your back; in fact most of our corrective chiropractic adjustments have nothing to do with “cracking” or “popping”.  We are here to help you feel your best and we use simple principles that offer 100% reproducible results.

To understand the importance of a corrective chiropractic adjustment, you have to understand what health is and where it comes from.

How the Body Gets Healthy

Although Health is something that everyone wants, few people realize where it comes from. Because most people do not understand where health truly comes from, most people have no idea what they should be doing to obtain it. Only through understanding what health is and where it comes from, can you begin to make the appropriate decisions on how to achieve it.

What is Health?

The basic, core definition of health is described as a state of “normal function.” So ultimately, if you wish to achieve health, you must understand what causes you to function normally (or optimally).

Americans today spend more money on healthcare than any other country. We spend the most on medications, vitamins, supplements, diet books, trainers, fitness centers and home gym equipment. No doubt, an interest in personal health has reached monumental high. The main reason why nutrition and fitness industries have reached their peak is because we have all realized that health can only be achieved by taking an active role. Changing your diet, exercising properly, participating in yoga, pilates and getting weekly massage can help to:

  • Enhance the overall well-being of your body
  • Overcome and prevent illness
  • Give you energy
  • Improve your appearance
  • Lengthen or extend your life

But, none of these are the source and center of all human bodily function.

So the all important question becomes: What causes the body to “Function” or “Build Health” every single day that we are alive? What controls your whole body and tells it what to do every day, of every minute?  To answer this, you need to go back to your anatomy book rather than the local gym or next fad diet!

The Brain and Spinal Cord

The CNS is composed of the brain, spinal cord and spinal nerves.  Your brain, spinal cord and nerves control 100% of bodily functions including its ability to heal and stay well.  As the central generator of all life, it needs maximum protection.  Thus, the CNS is located inside the armor-like bones of the spinal column and skull.

To have “normal function”–and as a result to have health–the Central Nervous System must work without damage or interference.  The most common, and in fact very likely way, to interfere or cause damage to the Central Nervous System is with the spine.  “Abnormal” position of the head and spine and subluxation (misalignment of individual vertebrae) will interfere with the CNS.  This interference will cause the organs of the body not to function or heal “normally.”  By definition, the result is abnormal or less than optimal health.

Before any body part or any body function can be described as “normal” or “abnormal,” healthy or unhealthy, we must first have a clear definition of what “normal” is. For example, if normal blood pressure is 120/80, then a person with blood pressure of 150/100 would have high, “abnormal” blood pressure. In only the last few years medical, anatomical, mathematical and engineering researchers have been able to clearly define “normal” spinal alignment. This research has been published in the world’s most prestigious medical journals and presented at the leading spinal symposiums around the world.

Normal vs Abnormal Spine Alignment

There are two proven ways to evaluate normal or abnormal spinal alignment:

1. Postural examination (posture is the window to the spine)
2. X-rays

Normal Spine Alignment as seen with Posture

When looking at a person from the front, the spine must be straight.  The head, shoulders, hips and feet should be lined up. When looking at a person from the side, the ears should be back over the shoulders and the shoulders should be back over the pelvis.

Correct posture is at the core of Family Health Chiropractic’s Corrective Care method of treatment.  The curves in your spine act as levers, shock absorbers, and provide for resistance to gravity; they also protect and reduce stressful forces acting on the spinal cord and nerve tissues.  But, gravity, age, poor posture, improper physical activity, injury, and disease can all play a role in the misalignment of your spinal curves and, as a result, your entire body.

We are here to help restore that balance.

How to Correct Abnormal Spine Alignment

Following a scientific analysis of your posture and the curvature of your spine, a treatment plan is developed, based on your deficits, to restore proper alignment, relieve pain, and improve function.

Posture analysis begins with a digital posture exam. Our office utilizes PostureScreen® to accurately and objectively assess your posture beginning, during and as you progress through your care plan.

Normal Spine Alignment as seen with Xray Examination

When looking at the front view X-ray, the spinal bones (vertebrae) must also be straight. The bones must not be rotated nor tilted and no curvatures (scoliosis) can be present.

The side view X-ray must reveal three disctinct arcs or curves. The most important arc is in the neck (cervical spine) and should range between 42 and 45 degrees.  This cervical arc is known as the “Arc of Life” because mental life impulses travel directly from the brain down this part of the spinal cord to bring life to the rest of the body.  Losing your Arc of Life causes the most severe obstruction to the brain, spinal cord and nerves (Central Nervous System).

If your CNS is unhealthy, you cannot become truly healthy by exercising or eating right alone. You can be healthier, but you cannot be at “normal” or optimal. Any “abnormal” position of the spine, misalignment of the bones, or any changes in these curves indicate a serious problem. It is absolutely vital to understand this point–any changes from “normal” will interfere with and eventually damage the Central Nerve System. Interference and damage to the Central Nerve System will always result in “abnormal” function of the body, improper healing, and poor, abnormal, or less than optimal health.
